Vermont's three leading candidates for governor tend to make the most news, but there are four other candidates in the race. As part of our series on lesser-known candidates seeking statewide office, today we meet Sam Young of Glover.
Sam Young got into the governor's race because he wants to energize young voters. The 30-year-old web designer is also a justice of the peace and a member of his town's select board, and he can boast to being a fifth generation Vermonter from a farm family.
Young says he was inspired to run while attending at a Google conference in California.
I would like to make a correction to your story on independent candidate Sam Young on Tuesday. In my interview I believe that I said that "I was recently appointed to the Glover select board" whereas in the intro to the interview it said "is a member of his town's select board". I now see that I spoke too soon and the interview has upset some people in the community whom I respect and care about. To me it is much more important that my name is worth something locally and that the story is corrected. As of right now no decision has been made about the position and I want to apologize to my community for speaking out of turn.
